Strength in the Waiting

Six months have passed since I beheld those two pink lines. The flood of emotions, the wonder, the answer I hoped and prayed the Lord would graciously extend in due time—all intersected in that moment. The waiting for another pregnancy transitioned to the 40 weeks of waiting for a little life to blossom and be born.

And that’s where I sit in the middle of in this moment—waiting to cuddle my Littlest Prince for the first time. But he still has some growing to do and I still have some preparing to do while I wait.

After several years of waiting to be pregnant again, I marvel at God’s faithfulness as I glance at my growing belly. I also remember what the season of waiting to be pregnant again taught me and is still teaching me.

Waiting has taught me to cling to Jesus for strength to make it through. I am weak on my own strength, but as I seek the Lord, He strengthens me in a way that only He is able. And as I seek Him, I build intimacy with Him and relationship blooms.

While waiting can be painful, whether it’s for a child or something completely different, we don’t see the finished canvas like God does. He has a proper order and time for everything. He knows how every tiny detail works together best. He prepares the way for what’s ahead, just like He prepared the way for Adam and Eve before they ever stepped foot on Earth. He created them last, because He first needed to prepare the environment required for them to survive and thrive.

God’s ways are saturated in fatherly love. His timing is perfect and He’s never a second late. When He asks us to wait, we can trust Him that there’s good reason.

“He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who lacks might He increases power.
Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.”

~ Isaiah 40:29-31 {NASB}

Even though the road of waiting can be lonely at times, Jesus will be with us every inch if we invite Him in. He will renew us with strength for the journey. He will fill us with peace that is not of this world. He will strengthen our faith and teach us to rest in His unfailing Promises, rather than be overwhelmed by our circumstances.

And in His Holy time…

Beauty will rise from the ashes.
