Semi-Homemade Prayer Board
I keep a prayer journal and one section of it is dedicated to jotting down prayer requests as they come in. I don’t know about you, but when someone asks me to pray for them I remember better if I write it down. It’s also encouraging to go back and see how God answers prayers.
I recently decided to create a prayer board to hang in my room as a visual reminder of things to be praying for — prayer requests from others and my own prayers too. So, I headed to Hobby Lobby and found this…
I wanted something that I could hang clothespins or clips from, and of course there was lots to choose from. I decided on this unique washboard display. It already had some clips, but not nearly enough so I picked up some more.
These mini-clips are the perfect size for hanging little notes or this case, prayers.
I decided to use oil-based paint markers to decorate the board. I’ve used these pens before, but I seem to forget every time that if you press down on them too hard when you’re writing, paint oozes out everywhere! So, I used some white acrylic paint for touch-ups and also ended up with a little more detail around the letters than I envisioned (creative touches, I like to call them).
One of the other reasons I picked this board is because it’s separated into two sections — perfect for both a prayers AND praises section. Praising God for all He’s done and is doing is an important part of prayer!
After adding the words and a few more clips, I ended up with a prayer board. I also cut up some scrapbook paper to write prayers and praises on. Now anytime I want to record a prayer/praise I can grab a little sheet of paper, jot down some notes, and clip it on my board!
Oh, I love this idea! I’ve wanted to do something similar. And I love how you added praises. Thanks so much for sharing this idea. (I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby here soon! :0)
So glad you enjoy it, Juliet! Enjoy your trip to Hobby Lobby! 🙂
Hannah, I love this idea! It is helpful in remembering the prayer requests and also decorative. How did you attach the clips?
I so enjoy your thoughts on your website.
Blessings to you and your family,
Carol
Hi Carol, Thanks for your kind words! I used a glue gun to attach the clips which made it super simple. The original clips were attached with a tiny screw. Blessings!
I absolutely LOVE this idea. I think this would be a great way to get my kids involved with prayer/praise as well.
Thank you so much for sharing~
Kim, So glad you enjoy it and what a great idea to involve kids with something like this!
Wow, that’s awesome!
Thanks Barbie!!
Hi Hannah! The prayer board is a great idea. Also, thank you for the two free prints – they are so nice!!
I follow your website closely and enjoy it so very much. It is so refreshing to see a young woman following her heart with such great testimony. Thank you!
Aww, thank you Beth! And I’m so glad you like the prints! I so appreciate your kind words.
This is such a great idea as I find the older I get the more I forget. You could also attach the clips with magnets. Another way you could do it is attache some twine and use clothes pins.
Hi Michelle, great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
Hi :). I love this and am thinking this would make a perfect present for a friend. Can you tell me the measurements of the board please? thank you and God Bless!
Hi Catie, It’s been awhile since I made this and I don’t currently have it up so I’m not sure. But I’m guessing it was around 1 foot by 2-3 feet long. Just a guess but maybe it gives you an idea!
